<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Alice requested a pink party for her 4th birthday. She has been telling me she wants a pink party for most of the year, but I kept asking her in case she changed her mind. Usually she tells us her favorite color is green, but apparently so is pink. I'm trying to keep it color related, and non-princessy. She doesn't need anymore encouragement in the princess department, she is always pretending to be a princess (when she's not being a ninja turtle).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDFXDijdYKQ3LGvJDrY544UZ6-4dY90SMK4JRfMtCauykWJoA5nIJ7nyurcn8gZeSE9ZhI3nwOnn5rqdQC22rCGTwR22CqJnrKQzDxtAoEe30AMxPQh_c9lIlzjm3m4L6v5S2BVWgUypU/s1600/pinvite2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDFXDijdYKQ3LGvJDrY544UZ6-4dY90SMK4JRfMtCauykWJoA5nIJ7nyurcn8gZeSE9ZhI3nwOnn5rqdQC22rCGTwR22CqJnrKQzDxtAoEe30AMxPQh_c9lIlzjm3m4L6v5S2BVWgUypU/s1600/pinvite2.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For the invitations, I used different shades of pink paper and vellum layered and secured with a ribbon. The invitations read:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We're having a party all in pink. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It will be lots of fun, don't you think? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Dress in pink and join the fun, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
pink looks good on everyone! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What is this special pink party for? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our sweet Alice is turning 4!</div>

I'm sure the boys will object to wearing pink and it's going to be very difficult to come up with pink party ideas when the only other kids there will be boys. We'll see what I can come up with.Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03428942014083675695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7595268563289960019.post-31847885682059588832013-05-13T02:41:00.000-05:002013-05-13T02:48:04.787-05:00Fast & Easy DIY Pull-String Pinata Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When searching for a pinata for Oscar's batman party, we couldn't find anything we liked (we weren't crazy about the idea of smashing batman's head open for some dubble bubble). We looked around the party supply store and Jeremy asked if maybe I could make something out of one of these lanterns - challenge accepted!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkCtyXygy-dSdB7dZRXqxyYXe09npw0Zgo6R0uSxIi9gYGIf30q2Hzvpcb297s8C_3u_sHGl6ICsD8jr7_4POcUDkwyyND2J52rL2iOHO3yh3DXQz8ewFPQ3eXCYvy5scu82XxHeaym_o/s1600/100_1535.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkCtyXygy-dSdB7dZRXqxyYXe09npw0Zgo6R0uSxIi9gYGIf30q2Hzvpcb297s8C_3u_sHGl6ICsD8jr7_4POcUDkwyyND2J52rL2iOHO3yh3DXQz8ewFPQ3eXCYvy5scu82XxHeaym_o/s640/100_1535.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Pinata supplies:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Paper Lantern - I used round, but I'm guessing any shape would work.</li>
<li>Tissue paper in desired colors</li>
<li>Coordinating ribbons</li>
<li>Wire cutters</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Glue</li>
<li>Uh.. yeah.. that's it. This is really easy.</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIuQ_xpsPO5JqWZYkbtYbN0ap18ZPaeZr-65pEF_WeiUZjlRpo75ryQUvVtkGZiETrsuDCAYWMKjmIFOAsOTnFDdJ1GAM3KKTrodc0BzelUrY0tP2HOUM819cJbCmFD8PkqR_30Iq_Vck/s1600/100_1539.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIuQ_xpsPO5JqWZYkbtYbN0ap18ZPaeZr-65pEF_WeiUZjlRpo75ryQUvVtkGZiETrsuDCAYWMKjmIFOAsOTnFDdJ1GAM3KKTrodc0BzelUrY0tP2HOUM819cJbCmFD8PkqR_30Iq_Vck/s640/100_1539.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cut the ribbons into pieces to use as pull strings. I believe these were about 4ft. Length depends on how high you are hanging the pinata and how short your kids are. If you aren't sure you can make them longer than you think you will need and then trim them to where you like them once the pinata is up.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcra-f-nkqGnkCP_oI5uFkS48Zt8lt2mzgfCIW7mYtzar9N8kW34VcosnbWW7NqkZf2Br5MdPqs2TAQioLUskg4w4OC_8hQ2j3dAR8hvA3iSWTcoIM2YD9Mr3pZc13Oqrp2Z2HC2GftYc/s1600/100_1543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcra-f-nkqGnkCP_oI5uFkS48Zt8lt2mzgfCIW7mYtzar9N8kW34VcosnbWW7NqkZf2Br5MdPqs2TAQioLUskg4w4OC_8hQ2j3dAR8hvA3iSWTcoIM2YD9Mr3pZc13Oqrp2Z2HC2GftYc/s640/100_1543.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This particular lantern is made with a spiral of wire covered in paper. I'm guessing some might be made of separate circles of different sizes, in which case you can skip this step. In fact, if you're not worried about some kid pulling down the vent cover that you tie your pinatas to, you might be fine without this step. Cutting the wire will make the bottom just pop off if it's pulled hard enough. If your lantern is just one long piece of wire, count a few spirals down to where you want the bottom of the pinata to open up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyvPQwpv78Ku6m8rQy2N3LTPShMYZrzMOtdYvh2ni9EVjUl50F94O1pMoSD6ZvkAyTGkLO35626-wqtl72K8r3bhXC0A6MZh53F-oG6XhFXC9mMhQQm7vYW8CwUTdiPLTGB0DUlLOpBMQ/s1600/100_1544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyvPQwpv78Ku6m8rQy2N3LTPShMYZrzMOtdYvh2ni9EVjUl50F94O1pMoSD6ZvkAyTGkLO35626-wqtl72K8r3bhXC0A6MZh53F-oG6XhFXC9mMhQQm7vYW8CwUTdiPLTGB0DUlLOpBMQ/s640/100_1544.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using a pair of wire cutters which are hopefully a bit daintier than these (my teeny wire cutters were missing, so Jeremy's came to the rescue), snip the wire.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOkthrxf5iLvNqkS4K0_3oIuaHCND30gdBPLX2_f3pBX-k2mKTFuszI0nA9Y2LU4V34iNy3F0LqySkLgyDC6HAQHPwJuLgjxFwSNfZVmkJ6XxWn3UGSpilbSu9imSsElzYyiTOUIcBDDQ/s1600/100_1545.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOkthrxf5iLvNqkS4K0_3oIuaHCND30gdBPLX2_f3pBX-k2mKTFuszI0nA9Y2LU4V34iNy3F0LqySkLgyDC6HAQHPwJuLgjxFwSNfZVmkJ6XxWn3UGSpilbSu9imSsElzYyiTOUIcBDDQ/s640/100_1545.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you're using gigantic wire cutters like mine, you'll have something that looks like this. No worries.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1_J9fACHja8gohc9MMh0lp7DhaLMkEUZyq8JMMzGG3H6YyhlBZw62TP_dpiVHVN0vbPmbVUID0B5Bs9wecgJEdCR1RhruYMx_Q-PPZ6UZmZqHc9jOH456bksAd1iTxiOmDQliFYvRL1E/s1600/100_1547.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1_J9fACHja8gohc9MMh0lp7DhaLMkEUZyq8JMMzGG3H6YyhlBZw62TP_dpiVHVN0vbPmbVUID0B5Bs9wecgJEdCR1RhruYMx_Q-PPZ6UZmZqHc9jOH456bksAd1iTxiOmDQliFYvRL1E/s640/100_1547.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, on the opposite side of the lantern, closer to the bottom of the pinata, cut two slits in the paper parallel with the wire, just big enough to slip a ribbon through. The cut wire is by my thumb and the cut paper slits are by my middle finger.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM8suXp1oaVbvRnsO9_ZZLbJgsZrjOMq5iqSbQ3s6CgIv4B9CD1OrL6lLY-BEo3Nby6cZLnQtUCMu0wCA_nl5Wr6sX4_mDOCK8_23a7gjlxRDKoZxvnEPaq7Q5N1byB3AYCCyGOhyBbIo/s1600/100_1546.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM8suXp1oaVbvRnsO9_ZZLbJgsZrjOMq5iqSbQ3s6CgIv4B9CD1OrL6lLY-BEo3Nby6cZLnQtUCMu0wCA_nl5Wr6sX4_mDOCK8_23a7gjlxRDKoZxvnEPaq7Q5N1byB3AYCCyGOhyBbIo/s640/100_1546.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Slits in the paper, wire intact. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6MHVboJQTNLJmVjXQP6Xqzn-iVfN6_yo7qCZMOov2AXDTWJY7mEliDAvyaKckv2kd7klWFRTEV26w6Rs6lW7iq8EZ6GR6CCL_B5wtyYzMqKPM3EH4K5xBQHhB8jBO3oWTAgrL0C8BCJ4/s1600/100_1548.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6MHVboJQTNLJmVjXQP6Xqzn-iVfN6_yo7qCZMOov2AXDTWJY7mEliDAvyaKckv2kd7klWFRTEV26w6Rs6lW7iq8EZ6GR6CCL_B5wtyYzMqKPM3EH4K5xBQHhB8jBO3oWTAgrL0C8BCJ4/s640/100_1548.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Put the ribbon through the paper and tie it around the wire. This will be the winning ribbon.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrcfcUY5QAelwx-CMU193TSe4_W9uFCnxlY13q514QAr0vY93kTvpYSAdY3NbZqh0tMW8pReV_t6GXzUo0a94ZOMYzO4sSSg1RTQgv_LtJFzuGsWqLAmMdzV_dLjOSQgZCm4CQLFW50M/s1600/100_1549.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrcfcUY5QAelwx-CMU193TSe4_W9uFCnxlY13q514QAr0vY93kTvpYSAdY3NbZqh0tMW8pReV_t6GXzUo0a94ZOMYzO4sSSg1RTQgv_LtJFzuGsWqLAmMdzV_dLjOSQgZCm4CQLFW50M/s640/100_1549.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Winning ribbon is tied on. Pulling this ribbon will rip the bottom off of the pinata.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWrLaeWX_CxNnrGk9rXvmfAPyGhPc3lsra3WREVhYrRx-nTaLpwJre5swOyeorld6_CtNdxambpuF-2UtiD1NWrtc5Oppc7I1yF2Jt2z0kfLnJmO4IhHXWpBzMiOk9JoyFulWv0HVEQp8/s1600/100_1550.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWrLaeWX_CxNnrGk9rXvmfAPyGhPc3lsra3WREVhYrRx-nTaLpwJre5swOyeorld6_CtNdxambpuF-2UtiD1NWrtc5Oppc7I1yF2Jt2z0kfLnJmO4IhHXWpBzMiOk9JoyFulWv0HVEQp8/s640/100_1550.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now that the ribbon is tied on, you can glue a couple layers of tissue paper on the bottom to close off the hole. It's best not to do this until the ribbon is tied, otherwise it makes it a lot harder to tie it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UE_dDOpOWiYDfil4fBO8FOS3G63zSkgnK8qAlBeimR9FhtHL5vIT2unt1xB9UOgjmsPzTRwJ4QR4mqum_9vVSYslP0qf52tpmtc94Z91-c-q-wp3V_t1Pvj7N09s9EY1VFCoq4MZXOY/s1600/100_1553.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UE_dDOpOWiYDfil4fBO8FOS3G63zSkgnK8qAlBeimR9FhtHL5vIT2unt1xB9UOgjmsPzTRwJ4QR4mqum_9vVSYslP0qf52tpmtc94Z91-c-q-wp3V_t1Pvj7N09s9EY1VFCoq4MZXOY/s640/100_1553.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you glue on the rest of the ribbons. Since they are just glued on they will pop off when pulled.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyDjoPY8iyOB-H0AuqBP-ccfRC8ijZcwjcXX_rXDN6dpCraRBO0a5POhOtGyMD_cAkoQkmjcQphAwi7EJY6PaxJo7xeXCkmQdrPbffToqUIAHoSVCdyyDystFokRFBHKK3pyo26M6BqBk/s1600/100_1554.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyDjoPY8iyOB-H0AuqBP-ccfRC8ijZcwjcXX_rXDN6dpCraRBO0a5POhOtGyMD_cAkoQkmjcQphAwi7EJY6PaxJo7xeXCkmQdrPbffToqUIAHoSVCdyyDystFokRFBHKK3pyo26M6BqBk/s640/100_1554.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Use some decorative fringed tissue around the top of the ribbons to hide the winning ribbon from view.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXuhAkMSKvlHXdRrA46gyGi7WwH0jNcGKkXW8pmdUE7BbPna4N-VQ5A465bbkpoyulzAA42W3s5hUHfBZs-nffd-jnjjFKCAy0pxgI5lO98Ih0FDwzIPUN_wvVevxzTFuxTmHAxVm28UY/s1600/100_1555.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXuhAkMSKvlHXdRrA46gyGi7WwH0jNcGKkXW8pmdUE7BbPna4N-VQ5A465bbkpoyulzAA42W3s5hUHfBZs-nffd-jnjjFKCAy0pxgI5lO98Ih0FDwzIPUN_wvVevxzTFuxTmHAxVm28UY/s640/100_1555.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you want you can continue decorating from here. You could make this into all sorts of fun things depending on the shape of the lantern and the tissue you decorate it with. Since this was a project I hadn't even planned on doing (remember how I was looking to buy a pinata..), I just added some bat symbols for Oscar's batman party and called it a day.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR8E92_fsBQxWi0xzlkJsFFOa_B-hw3YN_PoImRhELEtEF4YYJVvjz8xmRO7CKrIJl6J0BeSLF0Updb-4Ymw0lMdY0GSRJNRd5nyDwxbrYIoW2-jN_LH6Jzi5fz8djZqtZhjpPftK90Uw/s1600/2013-03-16+18.35.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR8E92_fsBQxWi0xzlkJsFFOa_B-hw3YN_PoImRhELEtEF4YYJVvjz8xmRO7CKrIJl6J0BeSLF0Updb-4Ymw0lMdY0GSRJNRd5nyDwxbrYIoW2-jN_LH6Jzi5fz8djZqtZhjpPftK90Uw/s640/2013-03-16+18.35.45.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here is the finished product. I went ahead and made all three lanterns into pinatas, cuz the more the merrier, right? And what else would I do with 2 yellow paper lanterns? Well that worked about perfect (yay!) since we only had 3 kids at the party (boo!). They each had their own pinata!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
First pinata down! It worked perfectly.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX8wiI8ROjjnmu_7Yr5m36X9Q9xY6AoVwMwZHO0b_Y89_yMq-s9yZkrxXSg4oDauFHAl8atHPC04uCLpWc-DpEliYiwgsEejf8t-KfZL3ib25nhE5cTaUZGEXdBzci9tcxY25rgNIWoug/s1600/2013-03-16+18.42.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX8wiI8ROjjnmu_7Yr5m36X9Q9xY6AoVwMwZHO0b_Y89_yMq-s9yZkrxXSg4oDauFHAl8atHPC04uCLpWc-DpEliYiwgsEejf8t-KfZL3ib25nhE5cTaUZGEXdBzci9tcxY25rgNIWoug/s640/2013-03-16+18.42.54.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is pinata #2 spewing forth goodness. These were the perfect solution for us. The ONLY problem I found with them was that anything pointy (sucker sticks) can poke through the lantern walls if you're not careful. If you've built up more tissue layers by decorating the entire pinata, this most likely won't be a problem. And it really wasn't that big of a problem to begin with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'd love to hear suggestions in the comments on other themes these would work well for. I know they would be great for sports themes (baseball, basketball, soccer, golf and such). I also thought maybe you could add a brown paper cone and turn it into an ice cream cone. Or add some cotton batting and make a group of them into clouds for a rainbow party. Leaves some ideas below!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
If you're needing to keep lots of quarters nice and neat, $20 in quarters fits perfectly in an m&m's mini tube! We've been using these for a long time, and periodically have to replace them due to them getting broken (they are kid magnets). But I'd say there are worse things than having to eat m&m's...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For our party time crafting activity, we made "stained glass rainbow" paintings. Each kid got a clear sheet protector (the kind that goes in 3 ring binders) that I had cut the 3 ring side and bottom off of. That made one big clear sheet with a fold in the center. We opened those up and taped them down on a rainbow template so that they knew where to paint their rainbows. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMiQUgSgbOmotNzeOHY2zRMffdIYPS_BfYtlxM2K841Kr60tyZrusZ2LGK8wdsjpE26hl0bh5SbmUx9ivqeWtKmoBZRA7uEbKSZ0oRZ6PoNA7cnOMTd4sfsps6Pu3lc7BiBD1Ip8go4OU/s1600/100_1299.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMiQUgSgbOmotNzeOHY2zRMffdIYPS_BfYtlxM2K841Kr60tyZrusZ2LGK8wdsjpE26hl0bh5SbmUx9ivqeWtKmoBZRA7uEbKSZ0oRZ6PoNA7cnOMTd4sfsps6Pu3lc7BiBD1Ip8go4OU/s640/100_1299.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They painted rainbows and then we sandwiched the paint back up between the clear sheets (no worries about sending wet paint home with kiddos).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjctpQnEf_MI2ipvKF6XG5NybrPYozJcwu_8Sr5TKJX4ZXcvirlk5NBqdXprppLhoNLK3mBsnzaiX4xjvIXwNNlmHyZwHy9u6Q-eUBjXOZpsW6loMwwSztXdLDYL1d51_ZYflHoFW0XmmI/s1600/100_1307.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjctpQnEf_MI2ipvKF6XG5NybrPYozJcwu_8Sr5TKJX4ZXcvirlk5NBqdXprppLhoNLK3mBsnzaiX4xjvIXwNNlmHyZwHy9u6Q-eUBjXOZpsW6loMwwSztXdLDYL1d51_ZYflHoFW0XmmI/s640/100_1307.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then we glued them between two black sheets of cardstock that had the same rainbow shape as the template.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTYItUKE_09TQuwcf7rraYK2OujdW9jL7uOMX5EPlf2IHgjc4nRQe0NHECqX5kKgL8uLlZkAdeQRv7qV-URE1ULZMLOjG3mrl8LQZG9x9FwfGqp_miK4busg2-gnkG0ucH8dSiG8L4th0/s1600/100_1308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTYItUKE_09TQuwcf7rraYK2OujdW9jL7uOMX5EPlf2IHgjc4nRQe0NHECqX5kKgL8uLlZkAdeQRv7qV-URE1ULZMLOjG3mrl8LQZG9x9FwfGqp_miK4busg2-gnkG0ucH8dSiG8L4th0/s640/100_1308.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a pretty fun activity, though kind of messy. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhikFAfFAAHaG00cIy24wq1DqbtyCLHNHbUk38BPbuxuF7Jpo-oF8V1t26VXvvw-F4w0ZQxdxS0qp6VXmhAv6GlPkIeYEjiBjxpvfdSHrIcSjeB1MnaY9eJYeUs1UXKzp5_s-PUK4dq0sA/s1600/100_1313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhikFAfFAAHaG00cIy24wq1DqbtyCLHNHbUk38BPbuxuF7Jpo-oF8V1t26VXvvw-F4w0ZQxdxS0qp6VXmhAv6GlPkIeYEjiBjxpvfdSHrIcSjeB1MnaY9eJYeUs1UXKzp5_s-PUK4dq0sA/s640/100_1313.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our next party activity was a pinata. I happened upon this rainbow #2 pinata at the party store (on sale!) and figured it was destined to be. It was the kind you hit with a bat, so it needed a little bit of tweaking to be functional for a 2 year old's party in a tiny apartment. I cut a door into the bottom, tied a ribbon to it and then covered the door with some tissue paper to keep it closed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFBpGeWlACf9S6ZnPORA-xb58-S2590DSYvYz7e6F03UyjIK7BBnpwQ8mCWg2oV6dLP8YtLk0HWYPD-wfvwvucIdgDCqBzL6WkKhd3tiaYDFCgGyalbvqZK5_cj9iLvdziRqOMKIjn9ZA/s1600/100_1323+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFBpGeWlACf9S6ZnPORA-xb58-S2590DSYvYz7e6F03UyjIK7BBnpwQ8mCWg2oV6dLP8YtLk0HWYPD-wfvwvucIdgDCqBzL6WkKhd3tiaYDFCgGyalbvqZK5_cj9iLvdziRqOMKIjn9ZA/s640/100_1323+-+Copy.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I hot glued more ribbons to the door so that they would pull off instead of opening the pinata, and added a bit more tissue paper to hide the ribbon ends so that older cousins couldn't look and see which one was the winner.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSuvM26i3W6MnmGC_cLHg0cgcE5zFLcPUwoo5ykagp6tr0hRwcdUnT530VeeOUZf-4yHM6_sBXnW1H7H_yoUWLLYdFKRU8Bj7VC7wix5v5hTfyrhp0h70WEKzBJSzbS-A_HxmA9BTIii4/s1600/100_1316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSuvM26i3W6MnmGC_cLHg0cgcE5zFLcPUwoo5ykagp6tr0hRwcdUnT530VeeOUZf-4yHM6_sBXnW1H7H_yoUWLLYdFKRU8Bj7VC7wix5v5hTfyrhp0h70WEKzBJSzbS-A_HxmA9BTIii4/s640/100_1316.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Alice LOVED the pinata. This is her thinking really hard about which ribbon was the winner (she did pull the winning ribbon)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXQ567_VYBk7wsPe8qujYcK3TysP6-bgU3Hyh5beeovRaR5izRxAJlA0rT1PcfUICTH9kWJXQTzSjyAhYFojVT2VyTNbnNjmdZd2KBjF9acRV2pZ2GLqwlZpZmXRTLCT6n4-CmtYbmTSU/s1600/100_1309.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXQ567_VYBk7wsPe8qujYcK3TysP6-bgU3Hyh5beeovRaR5izRxAJlA0rT1PcfUICTH9kWJXQTzSjyAhYFojVT2VyTNbnNjmdZd2KBjF9acRV2pZ2GLqwlZpZmXRTLCT6n4-CmtYbmTSU/s640/100_1309.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Pinata madness. Alice thought chocolate falling from a pinata was the best thing ever. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy1O-1_C4pvdBz0JUZX11ctgt-6fkFJtIoxVFjozVBHUYaf1Yix374uKvTjSG9N89BYZUh5zR1OjNYSAAJTjGqblxpuMH0MgV1-IeER1h8djF8KOsATtpJvvk8LkpUERELyYRtV1U5FqY/s1600/100_1265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy1O-1_C4pvdBz0JUZX11ctgt-6fkFJtIoxVFjozVBHUYaf1Yix374uKvTjSG9N89BYZUh5zR1OjNYSAAJTjGqblxpuMH0MgV1-IeER1h8djF8KOsATtpJvvk8LkpUERELyYRtV1U5FqY/s640/100_1265.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Each kid got a favor bag with watercolor paints, a set of rainbow paintbrushes, rainbow lollipop, skittles, etc. They used their favor bags for holding their pinata goodies as well.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Rainbow party foods! I tried to stick with foods that Alice likes and rainbow/pot of gold themed things.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4rqTIyGVZ4Vm8OoVCdbpJX0-Wh2Ou4ty8IXxVAGBHYCLkf1m3EoeEfY022PpxzhcQL1woGtpM9vcGNdYzn7bcxHNJsWSrf7gAhwE2SSCUGwze4cFcneqgP-dGlgVjwS_0bt_SD-3zOeY/s1600/100_1268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4rqTIyGVZ4Vm8OoVCdbpJX0-Wh2Ou4ty8IXxVAGBHYCLkf1m3EoeEfY022PpxzhcQL1woGtpM9vcGNdYzn7bcxHNJsWSrf7gAhwE2SSCUGwze4cFcneqgP-dGlgVjwS_0bt_SD-3zOeY/s640/100_1268.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had a fruit rainbow with fruit dip clouds. I was hoping to have the clouds on the same tray with the rainbow, but there wasn't a big enough tray for that. There was a LOT of candy. A pot of gold - candies wrapped in gold wrappers - rolos, werther's, snickers minis, etc. A bowl of skittles, rainbow suckers and rainbow fruit belt things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEDLgukRu2jTK5cIivuhZHy9TnRlxMbDVrY-O7451fC9dvZtTlFVujs7JTrwqTmv5oyv3wUqKppVu8yTYbV4nCNviazvN2ZF4T9AmlJ33h7A6PlZPDuCrlAhUvRRK-VDz8JDLIeWK4iMk/s1600/cookies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEDLgukRu2jTK5cIivuhZHy9TnRlxMbDVrY-O7451fC9dvZtTlFVujs7JTrwqTmv5oyv3wUqKppVu8yTYbV4nCNviazvN2ZF4T9AmlJ33h7A6PlZPDuCrlAhUvRRK-VDz8JDLIeWK4iMk/s640/cookies.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used a sugar cookie recipe, divided into 6 parts and added food dye, pressed each into layers in an 8" x 8" and chilled in the fridge, then sliced them to make easy rainbow sugar cookies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs38MQ8uVJL3ZmSmVu2pYgNeMAQB3Dd-YhEserrG1F2BZQGNFz-_Q8dwcshHJWAmM7-WTPURNMwy9PV1snirdYEWKOBGrnhrpu7LXRDodvLZGSxRRy0u91Wui5mzde9IO73y_mddiAFIM/s1600/100_1269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs38MQ8uVJL3ZmSmVu2pYgNeMAQB3Dd-YhEserrG1F2BZQGNFz-_Q8dwcshHJWAmM7-WTPURNMwy9PV1snirdYEWKOBGrnhrpu7LXRDodvLZGSxRRy0u91Wui5mzde9IO73y_mddiAFIM/s640/100_1269.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
More skittles, gold nuggets (honey-mustard pretzels), rainbow goldfish, and rainbow straws.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our main dish was a big pot of golden mac and cheese. Alice is all about the noodles and cheese, so this was right up her alley. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr5otjjWCGDTtbO_1BagsG8tJIsrpWeJRlL6qlYOr92_JSH03r0w_LYnWU7nvoLVXmLdFYJs7FgCEHNLT2eyZjXUKi-kYRIzHs5b1m2qYLNVNp4oB_T95Vdh80yBeSHDujAG_YD3IU7q8/s1600/100_1281.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr5otjjWCGDTtbO_1BagsG8tJIsrpWeJRlL6qlYOr92_JSH03r0w_LYnWU7nvoLVXmLdFYJs7FgCEHNLT2eyZjXUKi-kYRIzHs5b1m2qYLNVNp4oB_T95Vdh80yBeSHDujAG_YD3IU7q8/s640/100_1281.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And of course a fluffy cloud cake - </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj69P6xJW_x_jhmJNVqfQimgnmVW92ecxGrSfG1IoosAVt5otcL26rDyv7SkOP4btK_6sicgLmuPMiR1dNes7-pZLs97awWoGztzfkuF0ig54kKUFKxfe-gZSjJR8WB5zl17CXUTsnzQkA/s640/cake.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
with rainbow layers on the inside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
And I saved the best for last - Jeremy lit up our rainbow drinks! They looked glowy and fabulous.</div>

<span style="text-align: center;">The long awaited rainbow party posts! Pardon the extra super crappy pictures, was in a rush and using an ancient camera. Here are the decorations. A happy birthday sign,</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was SO excited to pack Oscar a birthday lunch in his <a href="http://www.planetbox.com/" target="_blank">Planetbox</a> this year!! I bought some blank magnets that I used for Valentine's day and couldn't erase, so I attached some batman images with double sided adhesive and then covered them with packaging tape (because my contact paper seems to be lost forever in the craft closet). Now that his birthday is over I plan to change that top right magnet to just his name.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
We found him this batman funtainer at a discount store and decided he should get it with his birthday lunch instead of wrapping it up.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And in his big dipper for snack time were a few packets of batman popping candy and some snapea crisps. Most of this came back uneaten and he came home with a 102.2 fever on his birthday, but made a quick recovery and felt good enough for his fondue birthday dinner and oodles and oodles of candy all weekend.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW8AVrfj-Lqi76E7CHc6MI97MIsLusPfUvJ7DEpgQ_CuEGKr28-NhagiFNgEOgTaTqtzYrzXKQhhvZYgTgrIQZGwu37M9hjntX1UuN7PqfzRGz6GaPrixcvecAYwWfGu3J_1ZwKKPmE2o/s1600/100_1235.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW8AVrfj-Lqi76E7CHc6MI97MIsLusPfUvJ7DEpgQ_CuEGKr28-NhagiFNgEOgTaTqtzYrzXKQhhvZYgTgrIQZGwu37M9hjntX1UuN7PqfzRGz6GaPrixcvecAYwWfGu3J_1ZwKKPmE2o/s1600/100_1235.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
For my SIL, Danielle, I had a hard time deciding what to make for her. Jeremy thought of a binder where we put activities and money and supplies to do fun things throughout the year. Since she is a single working mom of 2, she doesn't have oodles of time to prep fun things, so here is what I came up with! I started with the biggest binder I could get and dividers for each month.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht0jnfMcAGht6z2HFYNBdakj0lyJmYLLD2P8-BUdI2lSgAp3o_-G3Mwb0UyCwILBwYPIM4pKwtsPrTTFI-Z2WA53Dnq5l6LY3hmFDfUCHFha9RpCloOPDIFxj7xQ8cSKoeKP4zCF1k9ck/s1600/binder1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht0jnfMcAGht6z2HFYNBdakj0lyJmYLLD2P8-BUdI2lSgAp3o_-G3Mwb0UyCwILBwYPIM4pKwtsPrTTFI-Z2WA53Dnq5l6LY3hmFDfUCHFha9RpCloOPDIFxj7xQ8cSKoeKP4zCF1k9ck/s1600/binder1.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I printed out <a href="http://hellocuteness.com/freebies/2013-calendars/" target="_blank">these cute calendar pages from Hello, Cuteness!</a> and looked up fun "holidays" to fill them in with. So here is a sampling of the things in the binder. There was a crown craft for epiphany, a few dollars for balloons to send off on Balloon Ascension Day, a microwave peanut brittle recipe for Peanut Brittle Day, some giant bubble wrap to pop on Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, A wax paper/crayon shaving craft for early February Valentine's decorating,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89s98HUqZ2WQKqaNGDR1VUSu3Y6tgz1eSoZAG2u12VjsBUCJoCHffyVtrIsnIg6EC07VUY_kAlqwXnC-FUOyyfo-ulJfqkqlC67QfD3XhmMvTjC5Tx6PcWcOrk-DFGEFcLttsJIf8VkY/s1600/binder2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89s98HUqZ2WQKqaNGDR1VUSu3Y6tgz1eSoZAG2u12VjsBUCJoCHffyVtrIsnIg6EC07VUY_kAlqwXnC-FUOyyfo-ulJfqkqlC67QfD3XhmMvTjC5Tx6PcWcOrk-DFGEFcLttsJIf8VkY/s1600/binder2.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my brother the outdoorsman and for Jeremy I made some of these skull fire starters. I'd seen a few different variations around the internet (<a href="http://hellbettypayne.blogspot.com/2012/09/cotton-round-firestarters.html" target="_blank">These</a> from ThisHumbleHome made with cotton rounds, and a few options <a href="http://chickensintheroad.com/house/crafts/homemade-fire-starters/" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/homemade-firestarters/" target="_blank">here</a>) and decided to go with flammable material in wax since it would travel easily to Ohio. I used a little silicon-skull-ice cube tray-mold-THING that I got from the Dollar Tree around Halloween. I poured in a bit of melted wax (leftover candles) first so the face would look nice and then I shoved as much mossy stuff in as possible and put some more wax on top. I plan to try drier lint next, but I think this maybe looked nicer for a gift.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidboS-L6hwlbQvoMjG1K0OkMyDYOmQyIZ216C_dJ_FlPDGDH3ymOn4IKeX4pMjpp2RTHPJDhkXIejxtwcPehCW0TBtmvJv0xQN4p5LYPnXqfBP4TVhQI3yBqXz-87eXPA1Tlqzkk2MuzY/s1600/100_1074.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidboS-L6hwlbQvoMjG1K0OkMyDYOmQyIZ216C_dJ_FlPDGDH3ymOn4IKeX4pMjpp2RTHPJDhkXIejxtwcPehCW0TBtmvJv0xQN4p5LYPnXqfBP4TVhQI3yBqXz-87eXPA1Tlqzkk2MuzY/s1600/100_1074.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chris also got a firewood sling for carrying firewood to his campsite. I got the inspiration from <a href="http://blog.betzwhite.com/2011/06/firewood-sling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> where they re-purposed a canvas tote bag. It is shown folded in half, but it opens up and lays flat so that you can load up wood of all lengths and then just pick it all up by the handles. This was made with a piece of canvas drop cloth, some pleather for the handles and then I used a freezer paper stencil and acrylic paint to make the picture on the side. I'm hoping to make one of these for Jeremy as well!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Grampa has a collection of pocket watches going back generations, so when I saw <a href="http://www.themotherhuddle.com/diy-accordion-photo-album-in-pocket-watch-shell/" target="_blank">this pocket watch photo album idea</a> from The Mother Huddle, I thought it would be perfect! I found a pocket watch shell on <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steampunk-Pocket-Watch-Fillable-Clear-Case-Antiqued-Silver-Locket-Pendant-Qty-1-/181061954461?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a28222b9d" target="_blank">Ebay</a> and put grandkid pictures in. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used some <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Thermoweb-17-Inch-5-Yard-Iron-On-Adhesive/dp/B000XAMYXI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361144879&sr=8-2&keywords=heat+n+bond" target="_blank">no sew Heat n Bond</a> to attach the photos to a strip of fabric. I also added a little felt circle and heart at the bottom to help it look a bit more "finished" and a tab at the end to help lift the photos out. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I needed some sort of gift that would be sufficiently nerdy for my gamer brother. I had mom measure his laptop while he wasn't looking and made him a laptop sleeve. It's another one of those things that would be easier if you could try it out along the way, so hopefully his laptop actually fits in it. My first thought was to do an Atari logo on the front, since he plays lots of video games on his computer, but then I thought the commodore 64 logo would be perfect since we spent tons of time playing video games on the computer when we were little.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
A hooded cape was requested for one of my Star Wars obsessed nephews. It's sort of a cloak/cape combo, and I just had to make it up as I went. Sam gets frustrated when velcro capes get pulled off, so I did an elestic/velcro combo to help it stay on better. It was rather hard to get a picture of without a model....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Ycq6fRkwH68o9dLBY44k27Y3Sl-BTil5r-Z9PQNM2FI9588rpaOy61Ck35Ayku1P7RuXmHDbQPtSkVegb1ikqtkrKZk0321WdCxXWbU7fSmJYJnoq8sZo-p7to9L2Kc00F52bMqX5H4/s1600/samcape.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Ycq6fRkwH68o9dLBY44k27Y3Sl-BTil5r-Z9PQNM2FI9588rpaOy61Ck35Ayku1P7RuXmHDbQPtSkVegb1ikqtkrKZk0321WdCxXWbU7fSmJYJnoq8sZo-p7to9L2Kc00F52bMqX5H4/s1600/samcape.jpg" height="640" width="636" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
So I stole another picture from <a href="http://fuzzylizards.blogspot.com/2013/01/blog-bomb.html" target="_blank">here</a> on Robyn's blog. </div>

<br />
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my BIL and SIL I made covers for his tablet (Ohio State colors for him) and her iPad mini (pretty pattern for her). I used <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/89394177/the-ereader-cover-patternpdf-sewing?" target="_blank">this pattern</a> from the pinkpoodlebows shop on etsy.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHSscs-dyVdGBu-s6uZfr5qc9kN5bnADA1Ivqf9jjR_l4RnJiY9lnzhhviHwXT-B7MVDTTiQFFN91Vv27ksipQdAjceA65n939yzma4cMjqM6t4pLAIegwXXxbo9avQKP-PKDVaz0UhEY/s1600/100_1044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHSscs-dyVdGBu-s6uZfr5qc9kN5bnADA1Ivqf9jjR_l4RnJiY9lnzhhviHwXT-B7MVDTTiQFFN91Vv27ksipQdAjceA65n939yzma4cMjqM6t4pLAIegwXXxbo9avQKP-PKDVaz0UhEY/s1600/100_1044.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern was very detailed and came with different measurements for different eReaders. It is something that would be easier to work on if you have the eReader with you so that you can check to make sure it is fitting into what you're sewing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But hopefully they work!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
For <a href="http://fuzzylizards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Robyn</a> I made a "clean-up" apron. She was in need of a small apron that would work for carrying small objects (LEGOS) back to their home while she was cleaning in a different part of the house. I love picking out fabric for <a href="http://fuzzylizards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Robyn</a> because usually I can just choose something I would like!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After making <a href="http://fakecrab.blogspot.com/2012/10/luke-and-leia.html" target="_blank">Alice's Halloween costume</a>, a princess Leia hat was requested for Niece #2 for Christmas. I traced the outline of a hat that was about her size and crocheted away.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPvQH93otJ-EZln0flapoAQJrsHnAyMa9K_2StgUoAYgzDaOr_rgVHG5m9jspUQYmmv4Ydrj3EIfglXbuRYTaWOPefys828-kvHIgeuuCac6U3N_JUB5oWUUR0ijOmZWYxIOFQQ4lSCGQ/s1600/100_1033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPvQH93otJ-EZln0flapoAQJrsHnAyMa9K_2StgUoAYgzDaOr_rgVHG5m9jspUQYmmv4Ydrj3EIfglXbuRYTaWOPefys828-kvHIgeuuCac6U3N_JUB5oWUUR0ijOmZWYxIOFQQ4lSCGQ/s1600/100_1033.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And a side view.. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC0d-vr2tXlpO_snkJ3aXXWEGPwOIxc4A2UdgCIZocW_DAWY9Q03MYqk7DA7dspRNC5ypF9zcInQmaZ3f8y05hCF6GIRpJuDYliMoi2sahBV9Tgkvf02S5b2iicAosLzmmUCtXHlJ1fek/s1600/princesslucia.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC0d-vr2tXlpO_snkJ3aXXWEGPwOIxc4A2UdgCIZocW_DAWY9Q03MYqk7DA7dspRNC5ypF9zcInQmaZ3f8y05hCF6GIRpJuDYliMoi2sahBV9Tgkvf02S5b2iicAosLzmmUCtXHlJ1fek/s1600/princesslucia.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And the BEST view - on little Princess Lucia. Her cuteness is overwhelming - you can find more of it <a href="http://fuzzylizards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Side note: ever since Halloween Alice thinks ALL princesses are Princess Leia. She has a couple Disney princess PJs and she always calls them Princess Leia. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I avoided this post for so long that now it's late... but here it is anyway. A couple of my favorite fall makeup looks and a fall outfit. The makeup above is my go-to on-the-go look, simple eye and whatever lipstick/gloss I happen to grab out of my purse. I believe I used <a href="http://www.maybelline.com/Products/Face-Makeup/BB-Cream/Dream-Fresh-BB.aspx" target="_blank">Maybelline's BB cream</a> in light, <a href="http://www.maybelline.com/Products/Face-Makeup/Concealer/Dream-Lumi-Touch-Highlighting-Concealer.aspx" target="_blank">Maybelline's Dream Lumi Touch concealer</a> in ivory, <a href="http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/face/powder/tone_correcting_powder" target="_blank">E.L.F. The lipstick was <a href="http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/Lipcolor/Revlon-ColorBurst-Lip-Butter.aspx" target="_blank">Revlon Lip Butter</a> in red velvet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
